“A Good Madness: The Dance of Rachel Browne”
Written, Directed and Produced by Danielle Sturk
This feature documentary on Rachel Browne (1934-2012), found of Canada’s longest-serving professional contemporary dance company, Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers, captures the essence of the woman and power of the dance she created, exposing her unwavering desire to create dance to the exclusion of all else.
An aesthetic tour de force…
J.R Leveille, Liasons Magazine
Breathtaking…
This homage is… a pas de deux between the limitations of daily life and the
creative potential of a feminist soul.
Along with providing an intimate portrait of a Canadian dance pioneer, Sturk’s film
Montreal Gazette
reminds Canada’s dance community of the cultural importance of preserving choreographers’ work for posterity.
We are thrilled to feature a performance by a spectacular cast of Winnipeg dancers: Carol Ann Bohrn, Reymark Capacete, Justine Erickson, Aileen Holzrichter, Ellice Kynman, Thomas Oberlin.
